Detailed itinerary of 6 Days Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast in Kigali, you will transfer to Akagera National Park, the only wildlife park in Rwanda and the smallest of all three. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, where you will check-in, enjoy your meals and a short rest. Later have a game drive in the evening looking for elephants, gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, leopards, zebras, bush babies, topis and baboons among others. Head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Ride on Lake Ihema
Have a hot cup of coffee in the early morning thereafter set out for game drive in the early morning to see the early risers as well as other animals which you could have missed out on the game drive the day before. Among the animals you will see are Masai Giraffes, Leopards, Antelopes, Zebras, Buffaloes, African Elephants and many more.
You will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the evening you will enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema to see crocodiles and hippos plus various birds such as the Kingfisher, the uncommon shoebill stork as well as the Fish Eagle among others. Head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to the Nyungwe Forest National Park through Kigali. On the way to the park, you will visit a number of tourist attraction like the traditional Rwanda King’s Palace found in Nyanza as well as the Cultural Museum found in Butare. Afterwards drive through the hilly countryside past the tea fields scattered with tiny wooden houses up to Nyungwe.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Kibuye
After breakfast, you will for an early chimpanzee tracking experience in the forest to look for the closest relatives to man. The forest ranger will give a short briefing about the right way to behave while in the presence of the chimpanzees then guide you through the various forest trails. This tracking activity takes approximately 3to 5 hours after which you will return to your lodge for a delicious lunch and then in the afternoon, you will drive to Kibuye town found on Lake Kivu’s shores.

Day 5: Gisenyi and Ruhengeri
After breakfast, you will depart from Kibuye Town and drive to Ruhengeri through Gisenyi. The drive will unveil to you the beautiful countryside especially the Kayove as well the Gisovu tea growing regions. Arrive in Ruhengeri and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trek and transfer back to Kigali
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking, a ranger guide will take you through the rules and regulations to follow and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas. You will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the misty forests in search for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 7 hours based on the movement of gorillas and where they spent their previous night.
You are allowed to spend only one hour with the gorillas watching them go on with their life in the forests, feed, play and groom each other. Later head back to the lodge for lunch, then checkout and embark on a journey back to Kigali where you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at Kigali International Airport to catch your flight back.
