Detailed itinerary of 8 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls national park, Rhino Tracking

Upon your arrival at the Entebbe International Airport (EBB), your driver guide shall pick you and after a short brief you and proceed to depart to Murchison falls national park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (the only home to wild rhinos in Uganda) for a late afternoon rhino tracking experience.

Later proceed to the park arriving late in the evening, check in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise   

After breakfast, connect for a morning game drive where you will be able to view different animals like elephants, buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeest, waterbucks, oribi, giraffes, warthogs, view predators like lions and leopards if you are lucky among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

After enjoying your meals, you will connect for an afternoon boat cruise along the Nile which will give you an exciting panoramic view at the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls. Along the cruise, you will encounter crocodiles, hippos, and birds on the river banks like kingfishers, cormorants, and bee-eater. Return to the lodge with an en-route evening game drive to find some animals. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park, Tea Plantation Visit

Enjoy early morning breakfast, depart the lodge Proceed for your long journey to Kibale Forest National Park – The primate capital of Africa. This Park is home to almost 13 primate species. These include red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey and many more.  You will have lunch in Fort Portal. Proceed with the journey to the Kibale forest with an en-route visit of the tea plantations. On a clear day, be sure to take amazing pictures and also learn about the way tea is grown, harvested and proceed to your cup. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking Experience

Have early breakfast and set out for chimp tracking within the Kibale Forest. During your search, expect to see a lot of primate species like chimpanzees, monkeys, and other animals like the forest elephants, bush pig and duiker, warthogs, reptiles, and amphibians as well as a colorful variety of butterflies. Return to the Lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you can choose to spend the rest of the afternoon at your lodge, or enjoy an optional Bigodi Swamp Walk. Have dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Enjoy breakfast, check out of your lodge and set out for a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park enjoying amazing views of the hilly area. Make en-route stop for lunch and after you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park arriving in late afternoon, spend the evening at your lodge in preparation for your next day Gorilla Trekking Experience. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have early breakfast, meet your guide and with your packed lunch head to the park headquarters for briefing. A ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest and in the presence of the gorillas, then head to the starting point in groups of 8 people.

With armed rangers and guide, enter into the thick jungle of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 30 minutes to over 5 hours of looking for mountain gorillas depending on where they spent their previous night. The rangers and trackers are always in constant contact with the trackers to help you find the gorillas, when you find these beautiful gentle giants. You are allowed to stay in their presence only for 1 hour while watching them go on with their daily life in the forest, take as many photos as possible then trek back to the park headquarters.

Meet your guide and return to your lodge, spend the evening at rest, have dinner and overnight as above.

Day 7: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have early breakfast, carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking.  After the briefing you will join a team of researchers, scientist, park guides among others and start trekking. Gorilla habituation experience is a full day activity and during trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species including other primate species, different trees among others.

Once the gorillas under habituation process are located you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn and monitor their habits, behaviors, watch them feed, breastfeed, play, engage in the naming process, take photos among others.

After the face to face interacting with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide, transfer back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay as above.

Day 8: Departure

Wake up to an early cup of tea/coffee and proceed to check out, and transfer to the airport arriving in time for your check in. This brings your 8 Days Uganda Safari to an end.
