This 4 Days Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari takes you on a Uganda Safari visit to some of the most famous National Parks in Uganda including Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in Southwestern Uganda and covers an area of 331Sq km. Bwindi is home to 12 habituated gorilla families, 348 bird species, 163 tree species, 120 mammals, 27 chameleon species and 1000 flowering plants among others.

Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the most popular wildlife destination in Uganda. The park is located in western Uganda covering an area of 1,978 Sq km, home to over 95 species of mammals, 10 species of primates and over 500 species of birds, and it is famous for the amazing boat cruise on Kazinga Channel and game viewing.

Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You will meet your personal safari driver-guide, and he will take you through the details of your trip. Thereafter, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park located in Southwestern Uganda for gorilla trekking.

You will have a stopover at the equator to take photos and another in Mbarara for lunch. Along the way you will see a lot of sightings such as the beautiful scenery of the terraced hills as you approach the park. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

You will wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking with your packed lunch box. A ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the presence of the gorillas and in the misty forests of Bwindi.

In groups of 8 people, you will head into Bwindi Forest looking for mountain gorillas. The search takes approximately 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Upon finding the gorillas, you are allowed to spend only hour watching the gorillas groom each other, feeding and play. You can take as many photos as possible as long as your flashlight is off.

Trek back to the park headquarters to pick your gorilla certificates, meet your guide and head back to your lodge for relaxation or to the Batwa Village for a cultural experience. Here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the local people and get a deeper insight into their life in the forests of Bwindi. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After early breakfast, checkout of your lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha Sector in the southern sector of the park. Along the way you will enjoy sights of animal species including the birds, bushbucks, elephants, gazelles, buffaloes, monkeys and Uganda kobs among others, but the tree climbing lions are most common.

On arrival in the park you engage in en-route game drive as you head to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a boat trip on Kazinga Channel taking 2 hours and will give you an opportunity to watch different water mammals up-close. Some of the animal you will see include hippos, crocodiles, elephants and buffaloes along the banks. Also birds like the saddle billed stork, African fish eagle, pink blacked pelicans, Pied and malachite kingfisher, African Skimmer and the shoebill among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Departure

Have early breakfast in the morning and head to the park for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains where you will see animals like lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, Uganda kobs among others. Later exit the park and embark on a journey back to Kampala with lunch in Mbarara. Your guide will drop you off at the airport to catch your flight back home.
