Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Selous Game Reserve Safari

Our Rowin Africa Safaris driver-guide will pick you up from Dar es Salaam and drive you to Selous Game Reserve with picnic lunch to be enjoyed on the way. Arrive at the camp early in the afternoon, settle in and head for a boat safari along the might Rufiji River. This river is formed by the confluence of the Kilombero and Luwegu rivers, it is approximately 600 kilometers long and here you will see plentiful hippos and crocodiles.

The big herds of Tanzanian Elephants are also attracted by the Rufiji River that flows through the reserve, over 350 bird species can also be found in the Selous Game Reserve.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive

After breakfast, depart for morning and afternoon game drive at the Selous Game Reserve.

The reserve boasts some of the best wildlife densities in Tanzania, Selous has 40,000 hippos, 120,000 – 150,000 buffalo, 100,000 wildebeests and 35,000 zebras inhabiting the park. the sheer amount of prey attracts diversity of predators including 4,000 lions as well as leopards, hyenas and crocodiles. Some of the rarer species in the reserve include the African wild dog of which 50% of its population live in Selous as well as the sable and puku antelopes.

Selous is also one of the dew places in Africa where the endangered black rhino can be found.

During the full game drive with your picnic lunch, you will explore the reserve and enjoy some of the best game viewing experiences in Tanzania and enjoy the amazing scenery. Other wildlife species you will see in Selous include lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbucks, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras and greater kudus among others. Later in the day, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey back to Dar Es Salaam with picnic lunch on the way. Your guide will drop you off either at the hotel or at the airport to catch your flight to your next destination bring this safari to an end.
